A NEW MARKET - When Mattel approached us to come up with a creative way to expand their arts and crafts product line for preschoolers using the Fisher Price brand we knew that we would have to go beyond the typical hand paints, paintbrushes and crayon products. We decided to focus our energy on capturing only a small percentage of the kids modeling dough market. Challenged with very ominous competitors with high visibility, we had to come up with a way to differentiate Mattel's Fisher Price brand.

We needed a brand and logo that would say exactly what Fisher Price's new product was. We needed a unique container that could hold modeling dough, something air-tight to preserve freshness, while at the same incorporating a mold-able animal shaped character. Introducing Dough Dots! The Next Generation in modeling dough.
A FUN COLLABORATION - We worked closely with 3D animators and sculptors to create four easily recognizable Fisher Price characters: Hippo, Lion, Monkey and Panda. Each of the reclosable, resealable sphere-shaped containers are embossed with a character's face on the front and the Fisher Price logo on the reverse. The Dough Dots! container can be pressed firmly into the modeling dough to duplicate the character. Big and bold colors were chosen to match Fisher Price's existing toys and color scheme.
TIME TO PLAY - Once the basic Dough Dots! containers, molding tools and character-shaped cutters had been generated, and the production run plastic molds for each item were developed, we were able to create a fun, hands on and whimsical product lineup. It was very important that the Dough Dots! packaging also allowed the consumer to interact with the product. Two-sided blistercards, multi-packs, activity sets, countertop displays and even backpacks, which showcase each character were created to give preschoolers even more play time.
CHARACTERS BY DESIGN - Additional characters like Frog, Giraffe and Zebra were developed to give an added value to product playsets and activity packs. Each character was digitally created to match Fisher Price's Style and Branding Guidelines and were color matched for continuity with their toy program.
